It was a close game throughout the first half with both teams trading scores.  The first quarter ended with both team tied with 10 points.  Six of Lynnwood’s 10 first quarter points were scored on two 3-point shots.  In the second quarter, it was Shorecrest who scored 6 of their 10 second quarter points on two three point shots.  At the half, Shorecrest took a slim 20-18 lead into the locker room. In the third quarter, Shorecrest’s offense was able to take control of the game and outscored Lynnwood 18-12 in the quarter giving them a 38-30 lead.   This proved to be too large of a lead for Lynnwood to overcome as Shorecrest was able to hit on 8 of their 16 free throws in the quarter as well as scoring 4 FG’s in the quarter giving them the 54-44 win.

Shorecrest will next play in the state 3A tournament in the Tacoma Dome being held between March 10^th and the 13^th.  Lynnwood will play Glacier Peak on Saturday March 6 at 8:00pm at Glacier Peak High School to earn a place in the state tournament.  Glacier Peak defeated Ferndale in overtime 57-55.  Image gallery to follow soon. The title game lived up to its billing.  It was a close game throughout with both teams controlling the game at times.  Glacier Peak took the lead early in the game and when the first quarter ended, they were up 14-8.  In the second quarter, it was Meadowdale who tightened up their defense and got their offense on track.  Conner Hamlett scored 15 of his game high 36 points in the second quarter and led his team to a 25-24 lead at half time. Both teams played well in the third quarter and neither could take control of the game.  The quarter ended with Meadowdale still holding on to the 1 point lead they had at half time.  In the fourth quarter, Glacier Peak was able to take control of the game.  They turned up the defensive pressure on Meadowdale and held them to 11 points in quarter while scoring 17.  Offensively, Glacier Peak was led by Brandon Hill’s 17 points in second half, 10 of which were scored in the fourth quarter.  Hill was perfect at the free throw line in the second half going 7 for 7.

Glacier Peak is heading to the state 3A tournament being held March 10-13 in the Tacoma Dome.  Meadowdale will play Shorecrest, who beat Ferndale 70-52 Wednesday night, on Saturday March 6 at 6:00pm at Glacier Peak High School.  The winner of that game will join Glacier Peak at the state 3A tournament. This game was a rematch of a first round game on February 23^rd where Ferndale defeated Shorecrest.  Shorecrest took the lead early in the first quarter and didn’t relinquish it.   Emmanuel Chibuogwu led Shorecrest’s scoring in the first half by scoring 13 of his game high 21.  Ferndale scoring was led by Nick Morris who scored 10 of his 15 in the first half.  At the half, Shorecrest had a comfortable lead of 29-16.  Ferndale’s offense got on track in the second half and tried to close the first half deficit. Ferndale was led in the second half by Taylor Carr who scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half.  Shorecrest kept up the offensive pressure though in the second half, led by Isaiah Clevenger’s 18 second half points, to win the game with a final score of 70-52.

Shorecrest moves on in the tournament to play Meadowdale on Saturday March 6 at 6:00pm at Glacier Peak High School.  The winner will join Glacier Peak at the state 3A tournament in the Tacoma Dome.

Glacier Peak was able to beat Meadowdale Tuesday night but it wasn’t easy.  Meadowdale was up by 3 at the end of the first quarter.  Part way through the 2^nd quarter, Meadowdale was up by 10 points and looked to be in control of the game. Glacier Peak however was able to close the gap by the end of the first half and went into the locker room only down by 1.  The teams went back and forth in the third quarter and Meadowdale found itself with a slim 47-45 lead going into the 4^th quarter.  Glacier Peak was able to take the lead in the 4^th quarter by hitting two 3-pt shots, 2 2-pt fg’s and went 5 for 7 at the free throw line.  Meadowdale had one final shot at the buzzer to force the game to overtime but it didn’t fall in for them. Everett started out quickly in the first half of the game and led 33-27 at half time.  In the second half, Ferndale increased their defensive pressure and shut down Everett’s offense.  Ferndale held them to only 8 points in the half (2 points in the 3^rd quarter and 6 points in the 4th).   Ferndale’s scoring was led by Madison Hart with 16 and Everett’s scoring was led by Ashley Hope who hit 4 3-pt shots in the 1^st half, 3 of them in the 2^nd quarter.  Ferndale moves on in the tournament and plays on March 6 at 6:00pm against Glacier Peak who defeated Everett 52-41.
