Marysville-Pilchuck Swim Team pose with their District Championship Trophy for 2010.

Tied with Snohomish going into the last event it was up to the tommahawks 400 yard freestyle relay team of LeValley, Coleman, Schaufler and Taylor to break the tie in their favor, which  they did  by taking 1st in the race with a 3:43.75.  Team scores were  Marysville-Pilchuck 439, Snohomish 421, Kamiak 419, Lake Stevens 338, Jackson 300, Cascade 296, Stanwood  258, Edmonds-Woodway 161, Mariner 68, Monroe 59.

Glacier Peaks Kailee Woellhof just about to surface on her final lap of 2nd heat lane 4 of women’s 100 yard backstroke.

2nd heat of girls breaststroke held at kamiak 10.12.2010 between Kamiak, Glacier Peak, Snohomish and Stanwood. Lanes 4&5 were exibition swim featuring Hannah Roop and Micaella More of Kamiak.

4th heat of girls breaststroke held at kamiak 10.12.2010 between Kamiak, Glacier Peak, Snohomish and Stanwood..Alexa Weyer of Snohomish finished 2nd Lane 4 and lane 5 saw kamiak’s Helsey Hovis finish 3rd. !st Place went to Katlyn Christenson of Glacier Peak lane 2.

Mukilteo, Wa. – The WesCo 4A South leader could not have started any better as Kamiak senior midfielder Lauren Luke (#18) scored less than a minute into the game off an assist from senior midfielder Taylor Stanley (#7.)  While the WesCo 4A North visitors were able to fend off Lady Knights the rest of first half, it wasn’t long in second frame before Kamiak scored again as Luke another in the back of the net at 55th minute off an assist from the left from senior midfielder Cassidy Seckman (#6.)  Kamiak (6-0-1 tie overall) ended the night with another goal at 76th minute as Cassidy Seckman (Brelyn Kussman assist) shot one from the left of goal box.  Knights Senior GK Tana Foster (first half) and sophomore GK Emma Makela (second half) combined for a clean sheet while Spartans junior GK Haley Haugstad tended the goal for Stanwood (1-6.)

Kamiak fans let it all hang loose.  Kamiak lead 1-0 less than minute into the game and cruised to a 3-0 WesCo 4A conference win and staying atop South Division table.

Earlier, Kamiak and Stanwood played to a scoreless tie in a JV game.  Kamiak junior forward Ashley Brown (#10) had a shot on frame just before end of first half, but Stanwood sophomore GK Kaari Skaugrud stopped the ball smacked against left post.  In the second half, Kamiak JV (2-1-3 ties) returned the favor as freshman GK Kassie Iseman came off the box and jumped to stop a Stanwood shot.  A last goal opportunity came in extra time as a shot from the left from Kamiak Ashley Brown bounced off near post.

Near the end of the 1st half, Skyler Sutherland of Cascade fired two rapid attacks on goal keeper Julio Agular of Stanwood who was able to block both attempts.

Stanwood has a slow start against top-ranked federal way, picked up the pace in 2nd and 3rd but fell behind losing 64 to 44. Kale Schmidt lead the team with 18 points followed by Zach Johnson with 16, McCune 4, Taylor 2, Haaughstad 2, Schroyer 2.  Q1-9 Q2-14 Q3-14 Q4-7 T 44.  Stanwood plays Auburn in a loser-out game on the 4th at 9am. When it came to points, Shane Kaska(top) of Lake Stevens with 35 points and Zack Johnson(bottom) of Stanwood with 32 points were the powerhouses of the game. Good luck to both teams as they advance to state playoffs starting on the 3rd of March.
