			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Glacier Peak Grizzly fans are celebrating as both the boy&#8217;s and girl&#8217;s  basketball teams took their respective 3A District 1 titles during the weekend  of February 18.<br />
For the second year in a row, the boys will be heading to the  state tournament after a 57-54 win over the Mount Vernon Bulldogs Feb. 19 at  Mountlake Terrace High School. Glacier Peak senior Jack Bonner hit a game-high  19 points and senior Dylan Vargas&#8217; three 3-point shots helped seal the  win. During the previous night, the Grizzly girls also celebrated by cutting  down the net after beating the Shorecrest Scots 62-55 in an overtime win at  Lynnwood High School. Led by junior Katie Hawkins&#8217; (team high 12.5 point  average) 15 points, the Grizzlies (11-9 in the regular season) won their third  straight post season game for the title. <p>Meadowdale was led by Conner Hamlettâ€™s 24 and their defense as they defeated Mt. Vernon in Thursday nightâ€™s semi-final district tournament game.Â  In the first half, Meadowdaleâ€™s defense held Mt. Vernon to only 11 points and took a 25-11 lead in to half time.Â  Mt. Vernon scored 21 of its 44 points in the 4<sup>th</sup> quarter but Meadowdaleâ€™s offense kept the scoring up and outscored Mt. <p>Meadowdale will next play Glacier Peak on Wednesday March 3rd in the District 1 championship game with the winner moving on to the state tournament.Â  Mt. Vernon will next play the winner of the Everett/Shorecrest game on Monday March 1st.</p>
