Mukilteo, Wa. – Despite coming into the game with a 1-6 record, Lynnwood (0-1, 1-7 overall) proved that a league victory is no gimme as it battled Kamiak (1-0, 4-2-2 overall) through 2 overtime periods that ended with a scoreless tie, but lost in penalty kick 4-2. From the get go, the Knights put together many attacks and plenty of shots on goal, but the Royals senior GK Emiliano Suarez was able to keep a clean sheet going into PK. However for tonight, his counterpart Kamiak senior GK Caleb Smith proved to be the better of the two as he saved Lynnwood second PK shot giving the Knights a 2-1 PK lead. With a subsequent Royals PK shot missing the mark to the left, the 4 PK goals by Tyler Hawkinson, Zach Faller, Spencer Kienholz and Felyx Tsoi would suffice for a Kamiak victory. (Wilson Tsoi for nwsnews)

At Glacier Peak High school, the Lynnwood Royals came out strong in the 1st quarter finishing with a 8 point lead going into the 2nd quarter and still ahead by 7 when they headed into the locker room at the half. The Ferndale team that played out of sorts the 1st half was not the same team to return to the 3rd quarter. They were playing hard tight ball against the royals building momentum until they rid themselves of their deficit, tied and took the lead. Then it was a good back and forth game and with a few seconds remaining and Ferndale ahead by 1, Lynnwood failed to make the basket, Ferndale took possession and then it was all over. Ferndale won 47 to 46. High game points went to Anthony Edwards of Lynnwood with 22 points followed by Ferndale’s Taylor Carr with 18. Points for Ferndale were Carr 18, Frost 13, Morris 8, Schroeder 6, Hunt 2. Points for Lynnwood were Edwards 22, Fajemisin 8, Nut 7, Tamirat 4, Norde 3, Botts 2.
