Kamiak takes 1st place in district 4 years running.

Kamiak will advance to state again after its 4th year in a row of winning District 1 4A Swim and Dive.The Knights won with 688 total points with Marysville-Pilchuck coming in 2nd followed by Stanwood, Snohomish and Cascade for the top five spots. Vikings have slim lead for win over Knights

The Lake Stevens Vikings played a close game over the Kamiak Knights at Kamiak winning by just 2 points, 74-72. The game could have gone either way in the last few minutes and with seconds left Nick Kussman tried to tie the game but was unable to find the net. Kamiak will play again Thursday at Kamiak. Nick Kussman was the game high scorer with 25 points followed on his team by Imaan Vicente 18, Josh Winsubroto 8, Tyler Self 8, Anthony Berg 6, Ron Manchester 6, D Blacksmith 1. For Lake Stevens Seth Dodge finished with 18 points followed by Dakota Tomson 14, Brady Pahukoa 12, Christian Gasca 11, Gunnar Eklund 6, Lorin Vandegrift 5, Kevin smith 5. Kamiak wrestlers head to regionals

Four Kamiak wrestlers and alternates qualify from District finals to go on to Regionals the weekend of February 12th at Calevero Middle School in Lake Stevens. They are : Freshman David Garcia, 6th place, (weight class 103), Sophomore Josh Heitzman, 4th place, (weight class 112), Junior Captain David Hammond, 6th place, (weight class 140), and Junior Theo Hatziliadis, 6th place, (weight class 215). The alternates (7th place finishers) are Senior Captain Kole Engblom (135), Junior Captain Zach Regan (119), and Junior Captain Braedon Graika ((130).
Coaches Byran Stelling and Doug Baer are proud of the team that is rebuilding with new additions in the freshman and sophomore bracket who show great promise and the veteran juniors and seniors who have established solid performance records.

Knights rally but not enough to overtake the Warriors

Down by 33 points at the end of the third quarter, the Kamiak Knights girls basketball team were able to rally with 30 points in the final quarter but could not take the win as they lost to the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors 67-52 in a Wesco South game Feb. 3 in Mukilteo. Junior Kate Blackwell (10.2 point average) sank 15 points for the Knights while six foot senior Carrie Barnes shot nine points and grabbed ten rebounds. In spite of a 4-16 season, the Knights clinched the Wesco South’s number three seed and open the 4A District 1 playoffs against the Monroe Bearcats (12-8) Feb. 9 in Monroe. The Knights boy’s team finished the regular season with a 68-55 loss to Newport Feb. 4 in Bellevue. Junior Nicholas Kussman (team leading 14.1 point average) shot 12 points in the game. Finishing with the number two seed in the Wesco South with a record of 12-8, 8-6 conference, the Knights host the Lake Stevens Vikings (11-9) Feb. 8 in the first round of the district tournament.

Jackson boys take control of Kamiak

The Kamiak Knights had their hands full as they faced the number three ranked Jackson Timberwolves Jan. 25 in Mukilteo. Led by senior Brett Kingma, who leads the Puget Sound region with a 31.0 point average, Jackson rolled to a 94-70 win over the Knights. Kingma hit 41 points including seven 3-pointers, while junior Nick Kussman (team leading 13.9 point average) led the Knights with 21 points. 6-foot-5 sophomore Imann Vicente contributed defensivly for the Knights by pulling down 10 rebounds as the Knights broke a four game winning streak in the loss. The Knights will enter the final week of the season trailing Jackson in the second place spot of the Wesco South at 10-7, 6-6 conference.

Snohomish takes down Kamiak

As Kamiak struggles to plug in to the success of last season after losing key four year letter winners to graduation, Kamiak might now be seen as team in the process of rebuilding. Still, there is reason to believe that Kamiak can and will show its strength this season with its remaining veteran talent and its support network.
Highlights: Josh Heitzman (K) pinned Keaton Mills (S) and Braedan Graika (K) pinned Trevor Coffman (S). Kamiak’s Ryan James and Kole Engblom added to the tally with major decisions.

Wildcats overtake Kamiak for win 57-54

Archbishop Murphy overcame a seven point Kamiak lead to defeat the Knights. The Wildcats got out to an early lead but the Lady Knights finished the second quarter with a 17-8 run to take a 30-25 halftime lead. Archbishop Murphy opened the second half with a 13-0 run of their own, before Kamiak’s Erika Larson was able to intercept a ball intended for an Archbishop Murphy player, and successfully pass it off to Burns who tied up the game at 38-38 with 1:36 left to go in the third quarter. The Knights pulled out to a 49-42 lead before Archbishop Murphy made a final run to overtake them. The Wildcats were led by Beth Carlson with 17 points, followed closely by Kelsey Rasmussen (15) and Alix Ericksen (12). Kamiak also had three players in double digits led by Lexi Burns with 14 points, Kate Blackwell with 11, and Erika Larson with 10. Slideshow will be up soon!

Fiona Weeks Takes 4A State Championship in Diving

Fiona Weeks takes it easy at her second home on the dive board at kamiak. Fiona won districts, setting the new record for all of wesco district 1 then went on to take the state 4A championship on Saturday, 11.13.2010 held at the King County Aquatic Center.

Marysville-Pilchuck Girls Swim Team Wins District 1 4A Championship

Tied with Snohomish going into the last event it was up to the tommahawks 400 yard freestyle relay team of LeValley, Coleman, Schaufler and Taylor to break the tie in their favor, which they did by taking 1st in the race with a 3:43.75. Team scores were Marysville-Pilchuck 439, Snohomish 421, Kamiak 419, Lake Stevens 338, Jackson 300, Cascade 296, Stanwood 258, Edmonds-Woodway 161, Mariner 68, Monroe 59.

Jackson Girls takes title in 4A District Volleyball Championship

There were no lopsided games between Jackson and Snohomish Girls Volleyball team as they battled it out for the district championship at Marysville-Pilchuck on Friday night. Snohomish won the first game by 3 followed by Jackson taking the next 3 games with no more then a 3 point lead in each game. Play was even between the teams and either team could have easily walked away with the trophy. Jackson takes the #1 berth and Snohomish the #2 berth to state. Click on images for slide show.!
